Numbering and anchors at Ancient Greek texts (and other) at el.wikisource (Κατ:Πρότυπα αρίθμησης)

Up to 2023 all anchors are of the form #v or #p
For a #Proposal for anchors to the expeceted # (without v or p), here is a list of comments.

Principles

The visible output of texts, is as close as possible to the source/editions.
- Even if a scanned source is not shown at the Πηγή page, it must be mentioned and linked, so that comparison and corrections be possible.
The anchors/links introduced, are expected to be as in standard citation systems. The anchors may not always be identical to the viewable output.
Multiple numbering systems occur. (extreme example: Χρονικόν του Μορέως with four kinds of anchors.)
- Verse and Paragraph numberings are the ones without indicators (#).
- All other numbering systems may have special indicators (#p #x #whatever).
Unorthodox anchoring systems may be preserved alongside the 'classic' ones, when they correspond to anchors of wikisources of other languages, in case the two texts need to be juxtaposed. (Example, the English style New Testament colon anchors like 1:1, 1:2, ... normally cited as 1.1, 1.2.)

Numbering systems

Conventions for numbering are as in citations in dictionaries of Ancient Greek like Liddell-Scott, DGE, Bailly2020, Brill-Montanari, Pape, Autenrieth, SlaterPindar. Example

We observe for numbering:

There is nowhere v or p or any kind of indicator before numbers
There is nowhere colon separator (e.g. 1:2.1). Bailly uses comma instead of dot as separator. (Also, has Franch abbreviations which differ slightly form all the other dictionaries.)

The system of numbering depends on the author/work. It is standard and universal. It may be

number of verse (poems) (Typographic lines of specific pages are not, or rarely, cited.)
number of paragraph (prose), plus number or letter of section. A B C D E is cited as a b c d e (probably to avoid confusion with Greek Α Β Γ Δ Ε)
rarely, number of column+a/b/c/d/e or typographic line numbers (as in double column editions, e.g. at Etymol.Magnum)
and very rarely, number of page to a specific edition +number of line or letter of section for this page (example ?)

Double numbering systems occur to more recent editions which introduce some Editor's new numbering system, alongside the older system. Examples:

a second type of anchor could be used, with an indicator: abbreviation or letter for the Editor who introduced it or the Edition.

Othewise, there are no double numberings which would require an indicator like v or p.

Types of anchors

Placed before text, at the beginning of text (as in paragraphs of prose) = attached to the left side of text
Placed after text, at the end of a verse/row in poems = attached to the right side of text

with square brackets
- rare: brackets and § §
no square brackets
superscript, no brackets
float in bodytext, no brackets (usually at the end of line)
placed in column outside bodytext

Proposal

In the Greek wikisource Βικιθήκη, for Ancient Greek texts:

For every text, a scanned source must be compared. If not mentioned, it must be found especially for the explanation of numberings at introductions.

For reasons of clear and immediate visibility we use

bold
small is approx. 83%
smaller is 75% font-size (superscript at 83%)
a slight 0.03em letter-spacing

Templates should alwyas have parameter anchor + parameter showanchor. We avoid parameters at applications. Brackets, font-weight, and variations would be best handled in Templates.
When in bodytext, they are attached to their text with non-breaking space(s).
Anchors have no inside-indicators e.g. #x00, except in rare extra-ordinary kind of citations. (Example: Pindar's second, modern numbering by Boeckh.)
Names of Templates:

what names for right and left? p and v? l and r?
l indicates numbering before text. All «l» templates = anchors placed at left.
r indicates numbering after text. All «r» templates = anchors placed at right.
- the previous v (V) looked like greek ν (Ν)
- the Latin l (L) is also a problem because it looks like 1 or I (i)
l / r = no brackets
lb / rb = with square brackets - the bracket is not linked, only the numbers
lsup / rsup = superscript
s = section § § (rare)
pg = #pgXX for page (very rare)

Not attached directly to text: f = float, col=column outside bodytext. Thus

lcol = anchor is placed outside, at a left column
lbcol = has brackets and is placed outside, at a left column
rf = anchor floats in bodytext, at right side of text.

Other comments

Template:anchor is invisible and used in emergencies.
Chapter pages are titles either with numbers /1, /2 ... or greek capitals /Α /Β ...
- not /A΄ not /α
- The only greek-capitals sequence without ΣΤ is Ιλιάς
- The only lowercase letters for chapter.pages is Οδύσσεια
Verse/Line numbers by 5. If source has only by 10, the 5s can be added invisible.
